Why is there a group minimum of 15?
Group minimums are set to help the choreographers in developing the show and insuring its overall quality and appeal. It is much easier for a choreographer to work with 7 groups of 20 dancers who have worked and performed together versus 140 individual dancers.
Why is the group deposit non-refundable?
The $1500 group non-refundable deposit is required so that we can secure your spot in the show. Travel accommodations begin the day we receive your deposit. Our operations department begins working on hotel, bussing, meals etc. months in advance and signs contracts with vendors based on the number of groups with their deposit in.
What are the age requirements to be a part of the halftime show?
All performers must be 12 years of age and older. Any potential performers ages 10 and 11 must be pre-approved by the BGAP staff and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The rehearsals for the show are fast-paced and physically demanding. At times, our younger dancers have trouble keeping up with this atmosphere. If a younger dancer is accepted but cannot participate fully in all required rehearsals and keep up with the level of dance required they may be pulled from the show routine at the discretion of the choreographer.
Is the package price the same for performers and non-performers?
Yes. We do this to keep the package price down as low as possible for the performers. Non-performers receive all of the benefits that performers receive minus the costume and DVD’s. Hidden costs often occur with the timing of these events (i.e. choreography fees, staffing requirements, etc.) and we try to offset these costs as much as possible to keep the performer price down.
Does our group have to audition for this show?
Yes and no. We have three audition-only events for the 2007-2008 season. The audition process is done via DVD since we are located in Salt Lake City and may not see your group until the actual show. These events are the Orange Bowl, the Sugar Bowl and the BCS Title Game. The other five events for this season (Champs Sports Bowl, Gator Bowl, Liberty Bowl, Alamo Bowl, and Holiday Bowl) do not require an audition and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
How do we learn the performance routine?
Each performing individual will receive one choreography DVD and music CD the end of November or possibly early December. The first rehearsal of each event will include a choreography evaluation conducted in an audition format – each performing group will be required to perform the show choreography for the lead choreographer, BGAP staff, and all other performers. It is imperative that each group come prepared knowing the choreography as rehearsals will be not be used for teaching the show routine. Rehearsal sessions held during the tour will be used to create field placements, getting on and off the field and perfecting the routine.
When will we get our costumes?
Directors will receive their group’s costumes early – mid December. Please use that time to make any necessary alterations. Specific footwear/tights information will be sent to you as soon as we have that information.
What style of shoes and clothes do we wear?
The first night of rehearsals will include the choreography evaluation at each event – black on black attire is required as this will be conducted in an audition format. Please bring active wear for all other rehearsals. We suggest you always layer clothing for rehearsals. The weather can be unpredictable so come prepared and please don’t forget comfortable shoes. The dress for most other activities is casual. Plan on semi-formal wear or best dress for the Dinner Dance Party (where applicable).
Are chaperones provided?
Directors traveling with their groups will be required to chaperone or ensure the group is traveling with adult chaperones for their own group. BGA will have operational staff to oversee the performance tour; however, they do not take responsibility for chaperoning performers. Any dancers under the age of 12 (only if approved by BGAP) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Can parents come?
YES! Parents, family and friends may also experience the performance tour by purchasing a package.
Are non-performers and directors allowed at rehearsal?
All rehearsals are closed except for the dress rehearsal. Non-performers who are paying participants will be bussed to the dress rehearsal where they will be allowed to take pictures and video of the show.
How do we make arrangements to get there?
Transportation to the event is not covered as part of the package price. You may make flight arrangements by contacting your own travel agent, surfing the web for great deals, or calling our in-house travel agency at 800-323-1499.
What is the best way to get to the hotel from the airport?
Depending on your group size the most economical transportation to the hotel from the airport is the airport shuttle service. You may pre-arrange your shuttle by contacting the hotel ahead of time or simply catch a ride at Ground Transportation once you arrive.
Do we get transportation once we’re there?
BGAP will provide all ground transportation to all scheduled events for all paying tour participants once you arrive at the hotel.
What happens if someone gets ill or hurt on tour?
Each participant is required to fill out a Medical Release Authorization Form. The director of each group is responsible to have copies of their group’s release forms during all scheduled events.
